Sound the Alarm
Did you know you
have an average of two minutes to safely leave your house once a
smoke alarm goes off during a home fire?
Between April 8th and May 8th, the American Red Cross will
provide free, virtual fire safety education presentations to
anyone in the community! They will also help individuals
and families create a fire escape plan, practice their 2-minute
fire drill, and educate them on how to test their smoke alarms.
Appointments are 30 minutes and families who need smoke alarms
will be added to a wait list for free smoke alarms, which we will
install once it’s safe to resume in-person
activities.
Visit SoundTheAlarm.org/Utah to make a FREE 30-minute virtual
appointment.
Los expertos en incendios están de acuerdo en que las
personas podrían tener tan solo dos minutos para escapar de su
hogar antes de que sea demasiado tarde. Pedimos a
familia. Visite SoundTheAlarm.org/Utah para más
información. ¡Sí, nuestros voluntarios hablan español!

Eviction Moratorium Extended
& Rental Assistance
The CDC eviction moratorium has been extended to June 30, 2021.
Utah renters can now apply for the Emergency
Rental Assistance Program through a single, centralized online application.
This program helps renters who are unable to pay their rent
and utilities due to circumstances related to COVID-19. Expenses
from March 13, 2020 to December 31, 2021 may be covered.
Renters who are worried about paying their rent should speak with
their landlord to develop a plan for payment, which can include
Emergency Rental Assistance. Renters who are concerned about
eviction should fill out the CDC
Eviction Protection Declaration and deliver it to their landlord.
For more information and to fill out an application, visit RentRelief.utah.gov. You can also call 2-1-1 for assistance in
completing the application.

Lawn
Mower Exchange
Did you know running a
gas-powered lawn mower for one hour is equal to driving a
car 196 miles? But using electric helps clear the
air—making all of us breathe a little easier. Salt
Lake City and the Utah Department of Environmental Quality
want to help.
Beginning April 5 at noon, the State of Utah’s lawnmower
exchange program opens up! This is your opportunity to sign
up to exchange your gas-powered mower for a clean, quiet
electric version. Up to 2,500 residents will be able to
receive a $300 rebate for the purchase of an electric mower
of your choice with the confirmed trade-in of your gas
mower (or $150 without a trade-in). This year, Salt Lake
City Mayor Mendenhall has contributed funding to fund 1,000
rebates just for SLC residents.
Slots will go quickly, so mark your calendar and sign up
on April 5 at noon! Visit http://lawnmower.utah.gov/ for more information.

Reimagine
Nature
The second community
engagement window of the "Reimagine Nature: SLC Public
Lands Master Plan" is here!
During the first engagement window, which took place
between August and October 2020, SLC received over 4,400
survey responses, spoke with over 2,300 people at on-site
“pop-up” events, and engaged with over 250 people through
community and stakeholder presentations.
Building on this extensive community input, the SLC project
team is developing the master plan guiding vision and a set
of transformative projects.
To learn more about the master planning effort, visit ReimagineNatureSLC.com.
Starting today, you can
watch a pre-recorded video presentation on the site about
ten transformative public lands’ projects that will guide
the new Public Lands master plan. You can also take a brief
online survey to provide your feedback about these
projects.
